Mylie-isms for March
Thursday, March 2 Daddy got to go with us to Gymboree for the first
time today, so Mommy got to have fun playing with the new camera and taking
pictures. Our favorite is of Mylie enjoying the bubbles.
Grammie came into town for a class yesterday, so after
she was done today, Mylie and Mommy went to pick her up. She is going to stay
with us for the weekend! Grammie got some alone time with Mylie today when
Mommy had to go to class and Daddy went to play basketball at church tonight.
Friday, March 3 We took Grammie down to see Stacey & Madilyn for a
little bit today, and Mylie & Madilyn had so much fun playing together. They
are a good pair, and as Mylie gets older, it seems like they will get even
closer. Stacey also told us that she is going to have another baby! We were
very excited for her. She is due at the end of September sometime, which means
that there will almost exactly the same age difference between the Mylie and
the new baby as there is between Madilyn and Mylie. We've got a good system
going here!
Saturday, March 4 Grammie, Mommy & Mylie spent a lot of the day today
shopping while Daddy stayed home cleaning up the house. We got all kinds of
groceries, and then came home and made dinner. Mommy & Grammie's long-time
friend, Teresa, came over with her partner Gail for dinner. We had a good
time getting to reminisce about people and places back in Klamath Falls when
Mommy was little.
Before Teresa and Gail arrived, Grammie had a great time playing with Mylie
and finally got her to crack up, much like she did for Grandpa Bryan a few
months ago. Mylie thought Grammie's sneezes were hilarious. You can see
the video under the Quick Links section.
Tuesday, March 7 Stacey & Madilyn came over this morning and we loaded
the girls up to go shopping at the dollar store to put together a care
package for Lisa, who left last week to go on a mission. She is now in
the Missionary Training Center in Provo, getting ready to go to Argentina
in a couple months. She will be there until probably September 2007.
In the afternoon, Mommy went into work today like most Tuesdays, and
Cheri watched Mylie. But Mylie was uncharacteristically upset and cranky
today, and Cheri thought she was grabbing at her ear a little too much and
may be running a temperature. Mommy had been watching for ear-grabbing
ever since the tympanometry test in February had showed fluid in her ears.
So, Mommy called the doctor's after hours, and they told us to bring her in.
We picked up Daddy on the way and went in to the after-hours clinic, where
they diagnosed Mylie with a mild ear infection. Mylie was a good baby for
the most part, but she HATED having her ears looked at by the doctor. Mommy
and Daddy had to help hold her down while the doctor looked, and it was very
hard for them! They gave us antibiotics, which we started once we got home.
Luckily, Mylie seems to like them, and takes them without much complaint.
Wednesday, March 8 We had Lola again today, but she was teething, and
not feeling well, so she had kind of a rough day. Mommy took both girls to
a Mom's group at the local hospital that Shannon and Anna have been attending.
That was fun for awhile, but then Lola got overly tired and upset, so we
had to come home. Both girls are adept crawlers now, so keeping up with them
is getting much harder!
Saturday, March 11 The Grays are moving to Auburn soon, and are having
to spend time working on their new house to get it ready. So today, Anna
came over to play for a couple hours so that Shannon could go help. Anna is
and exceptionally easy baby to watch, and both she and Mylie had a lot of
fun playing with Daddy's guitar.
After Anna left, we all went to The Museum of Flight, where Daddy has been
wanting to go for a long time. Mylie got to see the original Air Force One
and one of the Concord Jets, and she got to sit in the cockpits of some
other jets that only Daddy knows the name of. We didn't get to see everything
that we wanted to, so we'll have to go back because Daddy had so much fun
showing Mylie all the planes.
Tuesday, March 14 What a busy day today! We started out with dentist
appointments early in the morning for Mommy & Daddy. Mylie got to come along
because Dr. Bingham and his wife really wanted to meet her. Afterward, we drove
Daddy to work and Mommy and Mylie went out to Issaquah to Mommy Group at Gabriel's
house. Gabriel is just a few weeks older than the rest of the babies, and is
already walking! It was so weird to see him. He also had a walking push-toy that
is slightly different from ours, but apparently it was the one we should have
bought. Mylie absolutely loved it, and was able to pull herself up with it, and
walked all the way across the house with it!
After lunch, we drove back down to Normandy Park and went to work for a little while
before we had to leave to go pick up Daddy at the park and ride. Both Mylie and Mommy
were exhausted by the time we got home!
Wednesday, March 15 Mylie went to Lola's today, but after Mommy dropped her
off she turned around and went home instead of going into Seattle University. It
was spring break, so no one was on campus, so Mommy worked from home all day instead.
After she was done working, Mommy started cooking, making meals for a month. She
cooked all evening until very late at night, but got most of them made. Mylie got
to play with Daddy all evening while Mommy was cooking.
Friday, March 17 Mommy & Daddy decided to go to the Temple tonight for Ward
Temple Night, so Mylie went to play with Cheri & Darren. She did errands with Cheri
before they took her out to eat at Claim Jumpers. Mylie must have been pretty hungry
because she ate and ate and ate. She ate a whole jar of food, plus a couple packages
of oyster crackers, plus a whole infant plate of food that the restaurant brought. Then,
when she got home, she nursed too! We must be getting ready for a growth spurt...
Saturday, March 18 We're getting into the spring cleaning mode at our house,
and today Mommy & Daddy spent much of the day reorganzing the kitchen. Mylie was
enjoying crawling all over our mess and knocking things over. When we got tired
of chasing her around, Daddy came up with the ingenious idea to put her in her booster
seat up next to the piano. Mylie LOVED it! She plays and plays and plays, and
if Mommy or Daddy tries to come over and show her something or play with her, she
pushes our hands away, like "This is MY piano - back off!" We got a short video
of her playing, which you can see under the Quick Links.
Sunday, March 19 Nana & Papa came over for dinner tonight, and Mylie got
to show off her piano skills some more. Mylie had a good time at dinner, feeding
herself some Spinach Lasagna, which she spread all over herself from head to toe.
The only way to clean her of was to just stick her straight in the tub.
Mylie's top teeth are pretty much in now, and she is getting closer and closer to
walking. She is very good at walking while holding on to someone's hands, and
she cruises adeptly. Occasionally she will stand without holding on to anything
for a few seconds, until she realizes that she isn't holding on and she falls -
much like the Wile E. Coyote cartoons!
Tuesday, March 28 It was a busy day today for Mommy's birthday! In the
morning Mommy & Daddy had to get up early when a nurse came to the house to take
blood samples so that we can get life insurance. Then we went to
Mom's group out in Issaquah, but we had to stop at the store first to get birthday
cake to bring. All the babies had fun mastering a set of two stairs and went up
and down, up and down all day long. Afterward, Mylie went with Mommy to
Seattle University so that Mommy could do a little work before class. Daddy picked
her up at school to take her home. We didn't get to do anything fun in the evening
to celebrate, but Mommy & Daddy are going out later in the week.
Wednesday, March 29 Mommy found a new place gym place that is similar to
Gymboree, but it is a lot closer to our house, and slightly cheaper. So we went
to have a free trial tonight at The Little Gym. This place is focused more
specifically on gymnastics skills than Gymboree, which is much more music and
social skills focused. It was so much fun, and Mylie learned to do sommersaults
and swing on the bars. She also got to walk a little on the balance beam!
Thursday, March 30 Today was supposed to be the first time that Mylie was
to stay home with a teenaged babysitter. Ali Perkins was very excited about
getting to watch her, but last weekend she came down with bronchitis, and still
wasn't feeling well. So, instead, Mylie spent the evening with Cheri & Darren
and they had lots of fun while Mommy & Daddy went to dinner together at the Space
Needle.
