Mylie-isms for July
July 4, 2007 For Independence Day, we headed up to Clatskanie to visit
Penny's mom and experience a small town 4th of July. And boy did we ever get
a full dose! Mylie really loved the parade, mostly because almost every single
entry threw gobs of candy. Daddy loved it too, for the same reason! Mylie came
home with a gallon-sized ziplock bag stuffed FULL of candy! After the parade
we headed down to the city park, where they had a carnival and a lots of games
and food. Mylie got to ride, her favorite, the carousel. Then we went back to
"Gamma Jean's" house where we had lunch, Mylie slept, and the rest of us played
cards into the evening. Finally we got to watch the fireworks show, which was
pretty darn good for a small town, and Mylie, though nervous by the noise, really
got into the show. It's so fun to share these events with her now!
July 15, 2007 We left today for our week vacation at the coast! But not
until we had met up with Cheri, Darren, Holly & Nora, who were all coming with
us after doing the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride. We didn't get out there until
very late, a trip which included some highlights of Che puking up the Ciabatta
bread he had gotten into before we left. Mylie was mighty dissapointed that we
weren't going to be heading to the beach at 10:00 at night.
Throughout the week, Mylie had a great time getting to play in the water, fly
the kite, ride on the front of a 6-person bike cart, and more or less have a
fairly relaxing vacation.
July 24, 2007 Aunt Rachel & Baby Annika came to visit tonight! They're
staying with us for most of the week. Mylie is really excited about having Annika
here, but turns out she was less than thrilled about having to share her toys.
The highlight of the week, however, was taking the adorable girls to get their
pictures taken at Sears, which turned out better than we ever could have imagined!
Take a look!
July 31, 2007 After just a 2-day break with no guests, we welcomed Madilyn (age 3)
& Emma Nash (10 months) into our home for a week while they're parents took a short vacation
to Illinois for a wedding. All three girls are just 15 months apart, with Mylie
smack in the middle of the other 2. It was a huge learning experience for Mommy
& Daddy, and great practice for everyone for when Baby Brother comes! Mylie &
Madilyn had a great time playing together...for the first day...and then Mylie
took on a total middle-child persona. She wanted to be the big girl like Madilyn,
but wanted to be the baby like Emma at the same time. And it was the second week
in a row she was having her space invaded, so needless to say, the whole act was
getting a little old. But we all survived (more or less) unscathed, and the great
part is the girls are still friends!
